Hi! I'm Kim Timke, a front-end web developer based in Palma de Mallorca. Born and raised in Windhoek, Namibia.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion and was able to kick off my career with a position as a Cooperate Health Manager in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
My interest and curiosity for tech has followed me closely in the previous years. It led me to volunteer to join tech related projects in my previous position, mainly helping with the company’s health digitalization campaign. I later shifted my focus to programming and signed up to Shecodes workshops, which enabled the deep dive into coding in 2022. Now I can build digital projects from the ground up and maintain them.
I am proud to have represented Namibia’s national Beach Volleyball Team all over the world. My affinity to be part of ambitious teams and excel under pressure has only increased as a result.
Currently, I am busy with a passion project: a remote work program in Namibia. It aims to give people the opportunity to experience the country as a local, while simultaneously working.
Passion Project
re|root is a remote work and vacation (workation) concept that aims to enable people (either as individuals or groups) to experience Namibia as a local, while working. The idea was born during months of home-office work, in which the productivity and well-being benefits of working remotely were explored. As it turns out, Namibia is very suitable to host workations, especially for people in the EMEA region. This is because the country has an excellent infrastructure in comparison to other popular remote work destinations. In addition, the time difference to all EMEA countries is minimal. I am currently collaborating with Desert & Ocean as a co-working solution to host the first group. The goal is to make Namibia the go-to destination for workations.
